I update this list of books regularly

Worldview

I find it extremely useful to keep a living record of the books I have read, the books I want to read, and the ones I highly recommend. It's an easy way to refer back to where you got an idea from, or how a certain idea fits into the web of knowledge you have. Before I started this blog, my 20 years of accumulated knowledge were mostly scattered. Even though I understood concepts such as macroeconomics, psychology, physics, and more, they didn't come together to shape who I am and how I think. They were more like idle tools in your garage that you have forgotten about. Right now, as I link these concepts and relearn them with a clear head, I know where to compartmentalize them; I know where the tools are; I know how to retrieve them. More importantly, they become my worldview.

The second benefit is that I stop losing track of what I want to read next. I keep a list of books I want to read in my note-taking app, Obsidian. However, before I commit to this blog, I haven't been consistent about updating the note. There's something about showing your work in public that quietly reminds you what you are committing to.
